Shipping Supervisor
We are looking for a Shipping Supervisor in Louisville, KY. Looking for individuals ready for a full-time, long-term employment opportunity with a great company!
Pay range: $26-$28/hour
Shift: 1st shift Monday-Friday
- 7:30am-4:30pm (Monday-Thursday) and 7am-4pm on Fridays
Job Summary
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily operations and personnel of the Shipping Department to ensure the efficient and timely delivery of products to customers with general supervision, guidance, and instruction from the Customer Logistics Manager. This is a working supervisor position, the supervisor will be loading trucks daily along with employees. Must have experience driving a forklift.
Essential Functions
- Plans and executes the shipping schedule to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders. Collaborates with multiple departments including: Production, Marketing, and Receiving.
- Communicates regularly with freight company representatives regarding scheduled load times and locations.
- Monitors customer orders for legal weight limits and advises the marketing department when space is available for additional items.
- Tracks all shipments in JustFood software.
- Stage orders for shipment. Inspects trailers prior to loading. Loads product onto trailers by hand or by operating machinery such as forklifts and pallet jacks. Secures shipments to avoid items shifting during transport.
- Plans, assigns, and directs work to Shipping Assistants. Monitors personnel compliance to all policies and procedures and takes appropriate corrective actions. Coaches and develops staff to build a strong team.
- Transports product to other warehouses on the property by operating forklift or box truck. Stores finished products in a clean and organized warehouse.
- Checks finished goods inventory for old products.
- Monitors equipment and reports needed repairs to the Maintenance Department.
- Completes various paperwork related to shipping duties, such as recording lot numbers on shipping orders, filling out bills of lading, completing trailer inspection logbook, and shipping log.
- Assists the Receiving Department when necessary.
Qualifications
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Proven experience in shipping leadership, 3+ years preferred Other Skills
- Proficiency in basic computer software
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in the English language
- Spanish language skills are a plus
- Strong analytical capabilities and initiative to take action as appropriate and necessary
- Detail-oriented and highly organized with the capability of meeting deadlines
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
- Strong knowledge and understanding of logistics and supply chain processes
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently
- Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations governing shipping and transportation
- Good attendance and punctuality
- Be properly attired at all times
- Be willing and available to work overtime when needed
- May be required to complete other job duties as needed
- Background check required
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
